One of the most popular side dish of Japanese home cooking
Course: Appetizer
Cuisine: Japanese
Keyword: spinach
Servings: 2
Ingredients
- 1/2 bunch spinach
- 1 tsp soy sauce
- 1.5 tbsp sesame seed
- 1 tsb sesame oil
Instructions
In a small frying pan, pour water just about 2 cm(1 inch) high. And let it boil.
Add spinach in the boiling water, let it boil one side, then flip. Total about 1 min to 2 mins.
Let it rinse in cold water, and squeeze the water as much as possible. Cut off the roots, and rinse again in running water to remove soil around the bottom of roots.
Chop them 5cm wide(2 inches).
In a small bowl, add soy sauce, oil, and grounded sesame seeds (you can crush seeds with your ginger to save washing mortar and pestle!).
Combine well served room temperature or cold.
Recipe Notes
Try with okra, broccoli, french beans, anything with seasonal green vegetables. And try with bonito flakes instead of sesame seeds.
